A graduate of the highly successful Ipswich Basketball program, Tom Payne is a member of the Essex Rebels Division II Men’s basketball team, a qualified basketball coach, and an Actuarial Science student at the University of Essex.
Prior to joining the junior club as Team Coach, Tom was a key member of the Essex Rebels Division III Men’s basketball team that put up a resilient performance during the 2019-2020 basketball season, and that finished narrowly behind the Nottingham Trent University Hoods in fourth position.
By way of background, and having joined Ipswich Basketball Club at the age of 11, Tom notched up an impressive record at the club where he was a key player in the U12 Boys, U13 Boys, U14 Boys, U16 Boys, U18 Men’s (captain), and the Division II Men’s team. More importantly though, Tom represented Suffolk at every age group, attended the Regional Performance Centre (RPC) for two years, and played two seasons in the Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) for Copleston.
Thus, having built a strong skill set (in basketball) over the past seven years, and in his first role as Team Coach, Tom is looking forward to sharing his expertise, and his passion for the game, with the club’s youngest talent.
