Each match day also features a range of performances and activities to keep the whole family entertained throughout your visit.

What to expect when you attend an Essex Rebels match

Food and drink

A range of hot and cold drinks (including a licenced bar), slush puppies, hot and cold snacks, cakes and confectionary are available from the Time Out bar throughout match day. Time Out also features views of the court, so that you need never miss any of the action.
Within only 5 minutes walk of all the action at the Essex Sport Arena is the fabulously appointed Wivenhoe House with its high quality menu offering British fare at its very best. Wivenhoe House is also renowned for its afternoon teas and fabulous alfresco dining experiences. So, whether it’s tiers of freshly made cakes, scones and sandwiches you’re after or a contemporary dining experience, Wivenhouse House has it covered.

Meet the Players

After the game, come down to courtside and meet the players. We have player photo sheets and player cards available at the merchandise stall, which you can take down to courtside to get signed by your favourite players.

QUEEN B

Queen B, named after Boudicca, who led the Iceni Rebels to defeat the Romans at Colchester, entertains children and gets involved in on-court performances at games.

ATMOSPHERE

Our match day DJ keeps the crowd entertained with family-friendly music, as well as amusing sound effects during the game. Take part in our dance cam on the big screen!

MERCHANDISE

Show your support with a Rebels t-shirt, hoodie, water bottle, wristband or other item from our range of merchandise, available at the entrance. Enter our competition to win a prize!

Travelling to the Arena.

Car Parking at the Essex Sport Arena: Weekend and weekday evening on-site parking is free, and there are over 1000 spaces next to the Essex Sport Arena.

Train Travel: The Essex Sport Arena is located 2 miles from Hythe Station in Colchester, and 2 miles from Wivenhoe Station.

Bus Travel: Buses from Colchester, Wivenhoe, Brightlingsea, St Osyth, Clacton, Weeley and Frating stop at the University of Essex next to the Essex Sport Arena (South Courts bus stop).

Nations Unite – A Celebration of Culture & Volleyball

Nations Unite returns to the Essex Sport Arena on Sunday 1 February, bringing together culture, community, and elite volleyball for a fun-packed afternoon for all ages.

Now in its third year, the Essex Rebels’ flagship event delivers far more than just a matchday — expect colour, music, performances, and top-level sport in a vibrant celebration of unity through volleyball.

What to Expect:

Flag Parade – bring your flag and represent your heritage
Live DJ & MC throughout the afternoon
Dance performances
Epic giveaways – including merchandise, Amazon vouchers & Colchester Zoo tickets

On court, fans will enjoy a Super League double-header as the Essex Rebels Women’s and Men’s teams face the Newcastle Knights in two high-quality, competitive fixtures with the women starting things off at 2pm, followed by the men at 4pm.

Doors open at 1pm – Come join us and celebrate culture, Feel the energy & enjoy a fun day out at Nations Unite!
