COACH HOLDING A BASKETBALL

ROSS NORFOLK

Head Coach

Ross started his coaching career over a decade ago coaching Junior National league in Colchester. He worked as an assistant coach within the Colchester Jammers Basketball programme for 5 years.

Ross further took his passion for basketball coaching into education where he graduated from the University of Essex with a BA in Sports Management in 2012.

During his time on his degree, Ross gained valuable experience volunteering within the GB basketball programme.

In 2013, Ross was appointed as the Kit Manager and worked as an assistant to Mark Lloyd for the Great Britain Senior Men’s team that was competing at the 2013 Eurobasket competition. Here Ross was able to connect and build relationships with high profile coaches and Staff such as Joe Prunty, Guy Goodes and Bill Beswick.

After this appointment, Ross continued to take up roles within British Basketball.

For 3 years, Ross worked closely with the Performance Director, Warwick Cann, to establish the National Teams Camp. This consisted of organising and managing the home nations junior basketball teams into a weekend of developing the British game.

In 2014 Ross was appointed as the Team Manager for the Great British u20’s team that were competing in the Division A European championships and then later was appointed in 2017 as the Team manager for the Senior Men’s team that achieved qualification into the Eurobasket competition held in Istanbul, Turkey.

This foundation of knowledge and experience allowed Ross to develop programmes domestically.

He volunteered as an Assistant coach for the University of Essex at the birth of the Performance basketball programme back in 2015, whilst Head coaching the Seevic Storm Elite academy basketball programme.

Ross also has been the Head Coach of the Essex National league team since 2016. Over the past 4 years, the team has grown and progressed through the divisions starting in Division 4 and now competing at the highest level in Division 1.

In 2019 Ross was appointed as the Assistant Basketball coach at the University of Essex, where his main role is to oversee and head coach the Men’s side of the University Programme.
