Gameday Reminders

 

  • Make sure your phone is fully charged before arriving at the Essex Sport Arena if you are scanning your ticket through Eventbrite or using the Rebel Rewards app to earn loyalty points.
  • Essex Sport Arena is now a cashless venue, so be sure to bring your credit/debit cards with you.
  • Review the Arena policies on this page including fan code of conduct.
  • Review the Gameday Entertainment and Activities page to find out what can expect from our award-winning gameday fan experience.
  • Have Eventbrite tickets ready on your phone to ensure a quick and easy entry to the game.

Tickets

As part of our ongoing effort to enhance our fan experience, we recommend that tickets are bought in advance through Eventbrite. This helps to save time at the venue and ensures you experience no delay in seeing our Rebels teams in action!

Parking Information

Travelling to the Essex Sport Arena:

Car Parking at the Essex Sport Arena: Weekend and weekday evening on-site parking is free, and there are over 1000 spaces next to the Essex Sport Arena.

Train Travel: The Essex Sport Arena is located 2 miles from Hythe Station in Colchester, and 2 miles from Wivenhoe Station.

Bus Travel: Buses from Colchester, Wivenhoe, Brightlingsea, St Osyth, Clacton, Weeley and Frating stop at the University of Essex next to the Essex Sport Arena (South Courts bus stop).

Arena Accessibility

Accessible seating is located on the ground floor at the Essex Sport Arena. When you scan your ticket, a member of the Events team will give you directions on where to go.

Toilets and Baby-Changing Facilities

There are several toilet facilities located on the ground floor and balcony floor of the Essex Sport Arena, including a rest room with a baby changing table.

Fan Code of Conduct

Essex Rebels are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all fans at the Essex Sport Arena.

Whilst we strongly encourage the crowd to cheer on our teams to create an electric gameday atmosphere, our event staff will promptly intervene to support an environment free from unruly or disruptive behaviour as per our Essex Rebels Fan Code of Conduct.

Outside Food & Beverage

Food and beverages from approved game day vendors selling on university grounds are allowed inside the Arena. All other outside food and beverage is prohibited.

Photography

Fans may capture special moments from their visit to Essex Sport Arena. Feel free to ask any event staff member to snap a picture of your group.

Wi-Fi

Complimentary Wi-Fi access is provided throughout Essex Sport Arena that lets you stay connected on gameday. To access this service, choose ‘Essex Guest’ from your available networks, enter your personal email address and accept our IT Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

Once connected you get ten minutes of internet access. For 24-hour access, you’ll need to verify your email address by following the link in the verification email we have sent you.

If you are a University of Essex Student or Staff member, you will be able to access Eduroam through your University e-mail and password.

 

Emergency Evacuation Information

In the event of an emergency evacuation where the seating areas need to be vacated, direct your attention to the LED screen, listen to public address announcements, and follow the direction of event staff who will evaluate you safely to the designated assembly point.

It is important to remain calm and follow the instructions of our event and security teams during an evacuation. Please remember, for the safety of all, everyone should leave in an orderly manner.
