Alex Chinery

Assistant Coach Alex Chinery is in his third year with the program having joined as a volunteer assistant two years ago from Team Essex VC. As the head coach of Team Essex Estonians, he guided the team to a promotion from NVL Division 2 South in 2019. Since joining the program Alex has twice been the assistant to former Team USA Women’s Head Coach Mick Haley at the Global Challenge Tournament in Pula, Croatia, bringing home one gold and one silver medal. Alex returns to the setup this season on the back of being a part of the coaching team that lead the East Region U17 Boys to the National Inter Regionals Title in June 2022. A former Junior National Team Athlete, Alex is excited to be a Rebel because of “the ability of everyone involved in this project to keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible within the sport of volleyball in this country. The program here at Essex has always exceled whilst doing things the right way, the transition to becoming a part of the Rebels family is no different!”
