The Essex Rebels players and local Police officers give young people the chance to play basketball with police officers, building positive relationships through basketball.

Essex Rebels have teamed up with the Essex Police to deliver FREE basketball sessions for children and young people across Colchester. These sessions are designed for participants to find out about the sport, sharpen their basketball skills, have fun with friends, and interact positively with local police officers – all in a safe, inclusive environment.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, we will be returning for our 6th summer of Ballin’ with a Bobby (BWAB) starting from 4th August 2026.

Meet and Play Basketball with the Essex Rebels and Your Local Police Officers This Summer!
Tuesday 4 August: Lower Castle Park | Colchester CO1 1UD (As part of Colchester Youth Festival)
- 11am – 3pm: Ages 7-18
Tuesday 11 August: Multi-Use Games Area, Old Heath Recreation Ground | Colchester CO1 2ER
- 5:30pm – 6:30pm: Ages 7-11
- 6:30pm – 7:30pm: Ages 12-18
Tuesday 18 August: The basketball court, Martin Hunt Drive | Stanway CO3 8AY
- 5:30pm – 6:30pm: Ages 7-11
- 6:30pm – 7:30pm: Ages 12-18

Ballin’ with a Bobby Tournament
Our Ballin’ with a Bobby Tournament is back this summer! Join us on Saturday 22nd August at the Essex Sport Arena for a completely free event for primary and secondary school students.
Ballin’ with a Bobby is run in partnership with Essex Police, and proudly supported by the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC). This year, every participant will receive a free basketball – giving them the chance to stay active, continue to use local basketball courts, and make positive choices in the community.
Come along to meet the Essex Rebels, connect with local police officers, and play for the chance to win some great prizes. Spaces are limited – sign up now!
