Game Preview: Essex Rebels vs Worthing Thunder 

Following last week’s victory over the Loughborough Riders, the Rebels will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins in British Championship Basketball as they host Worthing Thunder on Sunday, 16 November, at the Essex Sport Arena. 

With a 18:30 tip-off time, the hosts will be expecting a difficult game. Not only are the Thunder sitting at the top of the league, having won all five of their opening fixtures, but the game will be the Rebels’ second in as many days. An away day on the Saturday awaits Joe Hart’s side, as they take on the City of Birmingham Rockets. 

Last time out, the Rebels fought hard for an 87-82 victory at the Essex Sport Arena, which saw Miles Brown named in the British Championship Basketball team of the week, as well as scooping up the individual player of the week award.  

In what is shaping up to be a tough game, Head Coach Joe Hart will be relying on players like Miles Brown and Kyron Martin to provide the firepower needed to seal a victory. Speaking ahead of the match, Joe said: 

“Tough weekend ahead of us with the double header. We are rally familiar with Worthing as this will be the 3rd time we play them this year. Last time out we were feeling really good going into the fourth quarter and then let things slip away. It should be a really good battle and excited to get out in front of of the home fans again!”

Player to watch: Adrian Scarborough  

Similarly to our very own Miles Brown, Scarborough was also named in the BCB Team of the Week, following a twenty-four-point haul against the London Cavaliers. A power forward capable of winning games by himself, Scarborough is currently bringing in 19.9 points per game for the league leaders, while sitting at 92% efficiency on the court.
