GAME PREVIEW: Essex Rebels vs Loughborough Riders

The Essex Rebels are preparing for an exciting gameday at the Essex Sport Arena this Sunday, 9 November, with tip-off at 4:00pm.

The Rebels will take on the Loughborough Riders in British Championship Basketball action — the first meeting between the two sides this season, and one that’s shaping up to be a highly competitive contest.

The Riders, currently sitting 12th in the standings with a 1–5 record, will travel to Colchester looking to secure their second win of the season after defeating the Bristol Flyers II last weekend. Meanwhile, the Rebels sit just above them in 11th place and will also be chasing their second win, having faced tough early-season matchups against top-five teams Worthing, Reading, and London.

Loughborough are a fast-paced side led by Johde Campbell and Michael Joiner, who are averaging 15.2 and 14.4 points per game, respectively. the Riders play with pace and rely heavily on their perimeter shooting. They’re currently averaging 77.2 points per game while conceding 84. Loughborough have also strengthened their lineup with the recent addition of Irish guard Callum Keys, who joins the BCB roster after impressing with the Riders’ Division 1 side.

With both teams hungry for a win, Sunday’s clash promises to be an intense matchup as the early stages of the BCB regular season unfold.

Player to Watch: Johde Campbell

A Charnwood College graduate and former Nottingham Hoods standout, Johde Campbell has quickly become a key player for the Riders. The 6’0” guard leads his team in scoring (15.2 ppg) and assists (5.6 apg), providing a constant threat both attacking the basket and from beyond the arc, where he leads the team in attempts and made shots.
