Game Preview: Essex Rebels Doubleheader – 28 February

February 27, 2026

This Saturday, 28 February, the Essex Rebels return to the Essex Sport Arena for an exciting double header in Super League Basketball and British Championship Basketball action.

Essex Rebels Women vs Cardiff Met Archers | 4:00 pm Tip-off

The Essex Rebels Women will be looking to get back to winning ways against the Cardiff Met Archers in the latest round of Super League Basketball fixtures. Tipping off at 4pm, the game marks the Rebels’ return to the Essex Sport Arena for the first time since the first week of January.

After losses to both the Sheffield Hatters and Caledonia Gladiators, the Rebels find themselves fourth in the standings. On the other hand, Cardiff find themselves bottom of the table and yet to find a win.

The Rebels will be looking to take positives from the last two games, including the form of Rhema Ogele. The centre has brought in 23 points in the past two matches, while also notching up 19 rebounds and 3 steals.

Player To Watch: Amelia Scharpf

Scharpf has proven to be a bright spark in the Welsh capital this season. Averaging the most points per game (15.1) out of the squad, as well as the most rebounds (7.2), Scharpf is the main attacking threat that the Rebels will have to shut down this weekend.

Essex Rebels Men vs Milton Keynes Breakers | 6:30 pm Tip-off

Following the women’s game, the Essex Rebels wen will face off against the Milton Keynes Breakers in a game that will see British Championship Basketball return to the Essex Sport Arena.

Following a run of three defeats, the Rebels will be looking to turn things around as they find themselves tenth in the BCB standings. They’ll be facing tough opposition as the visitors sit in third, just two points away from the league leaders.

The Rebels will be looking to Miles Brown to continue his fine form this season, with the guard notching up 20+ points in each of his last four games.

Player To Watch: Xavier Wilson

Averaging 14.9 points per game and making over 25% of his attempted three-pointers, Xavier Wilson is one for the Rebels to watch out for.

The forward is also averaging just under 8 rebounds per game, as well as 3 assists, highlighting his versatility. Coming in at 6’8, Wilson will bring verticality to the court, while also being a threat at both ends.
