Essex Rebels Sign GB Youth International Ethan Conway

GB youth international Ethan Conway returns to England after a season in Canada and will now be embarking on a new journey with the Rebels ahead of the 2026/27 British Championship Basketball season.

Essex Rebels are delighted to announce the signing of talented shooting guard Ethan Conway. Having represented Great Britain at the European Championships with both the U16 and U18 international teams, Conway brings valuable international experience to the Rebels.

Conway joins the Rebels following a year in Canada with the Memorial University Sea-Hawks, competing in the Atlantic University Sports Conference. During his freshman season, he made 18 appearances and scored 70 points across the 2025/26 season.

The shooting guard developed his game at Richmond Knights before spending three years in the premier basketball programme at Barking Abbey School. At Barking Abbey, Conway played a pivotal role in securing the Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) championship title in both the 2022/23 and 2024/25 seasons.  

After securing the championship in the latter season, Conway earned the prestigious title of EABL South Region Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2024/25 season.  

The Rebels look forward for Conway to bring his international and club success to the British Champion Basketball 2026/27 season.

Ethan is a young but very talented player, and his shooting ability is one of his biggest strengths. There’s a reason he has represented GB at youth level and won EABL MVP, and we’re really looking forward to seeing him continue to develop his game here at Essex. He has a lot of potential, and we’re excited to see the impact he can make and how he continues to grow throughout the season.

The Essex Rebels will open the season on 12 September at home where they will take on Worthing Thunder at 6:30pm at the Essex Sports Arena.
