October 11, 2021

Essex Rebels Men’s Basketball took on The Nottingham Hoods in the first home game of the regular season. Rebels needed to get back on track after losing out to Worthing last week.

The first quarter saw both teams battle it out in a close scoring affair, Notthingham edged the home side by 2 points. The game continued at a high tempo with The Hoods keeping the Rebels at bay going into half time with a 7 point lead.

The start of the Second half Nottingham came out firing going on a quick 9-0 in their first 3 possession. A quick timeout by Coach Ross Norfolk, saw him rally the team.

The game saw a dry scoring spell for Essex whilst Notthingham continued to fire on all cylinders. The final result saw Notthingham take the win 106 -64.

“It was a tough contest, Notthingham are one of the best teams in our league. Lapse of concentration at crucial times allowed them to gain momentum. ” said Coach Ross Norfolk.

Jordan Gray finished with 19 points to lead Essex with a strong contribution from Matthew Disu off the bench with 13 points.

Essex now look ahead to next weekend where they take on league leaders Solent Kestrels.
