Essex Fall Short in Derby

January 24, 2022

Essex Rebels travelled to the inform Derby Trailblazers in the NBL Division 1 competition.

Essex were looking to build on the momentum created from last weeks win, whilst Derby recently won the LLynch Trophy competition and are in fine form.

The game started with some up tempo play by both sides. With Derby edging Essex. The Rebels couldn’t contain Derby’s fast break actions and the lead eeked out to a 9 point ball game at the half.

Essex needed to regroup following the half time interval but Derby continue to play on the fast break and catching the Rebels sleeping.

Essex couldn’t find a way back after the slow start to the second half and the game swung in favour of the Trailblazers. Essex continued to fight but it was a little to late for the visitors.

The game finish 91 – 60 to Derby.

Essex were led by Rory Winters 16 points closely followed by Jake Enyon with 12 points.  The Rebels will rally this week and will be taking on BA London Lions on Saturday 29th at the Essex Sport Arena
