Essex Rebels sign exciting talent Lara Rohkohl
The Essex Rebels are delighted to welcome German Forward Lara Rohkohl to the roster for the upcoming Super League Basketball season.
Lara signs for the Rebels after spending a year at Brigham Young University (BYU) playing for the BYU Cougars in NCAA 1.
Last season, Rohkohl was listed in the Lisa Leslie Centre of Year Top 20 watch list. This comes after a very successful season, achieving 106 offensive rebounds, the fifth most in a single season in the programme’s history.
Season highlights for Rohkohl include scoring a season high of 18 points in her game against Webber State and 14 rebounds with 6 blocks in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament semi-final win over Kansas.
Prior to her time at BYU, Lara attended the College of Charleston Athletics where she spent two years playing for the Charleston Cougars in Division 1 of the Coastal Athletic Association. In her first season at Charleston, she matched her career high of 10 rebounds in a win against Gardner-Webb, recording a double-double in this game by also scoring 19 points.
In her second season, Rohkohl played 33 games and started 32 out of the 33. Throughout the season, she led Charleston in both rebounds and blocks.
Before joining Charleston, Lara spent her freshman year in Division 1 of the Northeast Conference (NEC) at Central Connecticut. Thriving in the 2022/23 season, Rohkohl played 28 games, starting 25 and averaging 7.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in 25.4 minutes.
At the end of her freshman season, Rohkohl was named in the NEC All-Rookie team as well as earning NEC Rookie of the Week twice. She also ranked in the top 10 in two statistical categories, second in rebounds per game (7.7) and second in blocks per game (1.4).
Before college, Rohkohl attended IGS Roderbruch high school in her home city of Hannover, Germany. During her time at school, she was a WNBL National Champion in 2017.
The Rebels are excited to welcome Rohkohl and her wealth of experience for the 2026/27 season.
