LUKE BUSUMBRU

The 6’3” guard joins us from British Basketball League (BBL) side Surrey Scorchers where he featured in 19 BBL games, averaging 5.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Prior to the Scorchers, Luke spent three years on the south coast where he made a name for himself as one of the standout players in the NBL helping Solent Kestrels to three back-to-back Division 1 titles and two National Cup championships.

The 25-year-old floor general was also part of the 2019-2020 Kestrels team that became the first non-BBL side to advance to the BBL Trophy Final in a season where he averaged an exceptional 14 points on 57.3% shooting, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game, as well as leading the team in efficiency rating.

Essex Rebels fans can expect an explosive, athletic and high energy player who is likely to feed off the energy created at the Essex Sport Arena. Furthermore, Luke brings with him a considerable pedigree within the league, which is certain to make an impact.
