What to expect when you attend an Essex Rebels match

Food and drink

A range of hot and cold drinks (including a licenced bar), slush puppies, hot and cold snacks, cakes and confectionary are available from the Time Out bar throughout match day. Time Out also features views of the court, so that you need never miss any of the action.

Within only 5 minutes walk of all the action at the Essex Sport Arena is the fabulously appointed Wivenhoe House with its high quality menu offering British fare at its very best. Wivenhoe House is also renowned for its afternoon teas and fabulous alfresco dining experiences. So, whether it’s tiers of freshly made cakes, scones and sandwiches you’re after or a contemporary dining experience, Wivenhouse House has it covered.

Meet the Players

After the game, come down to courtside and meet the players. We have player photo sheets and player cards available at the merchandise stall, which you can take down to courtside to get signed by your favourite players.

QUEEN B

Queen B, named after Boudicca, who led the Iceni Rebels to defeat the Romans at Colchester, entertains children and gets involved in on-court performances at games.

KIDS ZONE

The kids zone is located close to the seating and ensures that little ones never need get bored. They can take part in arts, crafts and even get their face painted as a Celtic Warrior.

ATMOSPHERE

Our match day DJ keeps the crowd entertained with family-friendly music, as well as amusing sound effects during the game. Take part in our dance cam on the big screen!

MERCHANDISE

Show your support with a Rebels t-shirt, hoodie, water bottle, wristband or other item from our range of merchandise, available at the entrance. Enter our competition to win a prize!

Getting you here safely

Travelling to the Arena.

Car Parking at the Essex Sport Arena: Weekend and weekday evening on-site parking is free, and there are over 1000 spaces next to the Essex Sport Arena.

Train Travel: The Essex Sport Arena is located 2 miles from Hythe Station in Colchester, and 2 miles from Wivenhoe Station.

Bus Travel: Buses from Colchester, Wivenhoe, Brightlingsea, St Osyth, Clacton, Weeley and Frating stop at the University of Essex next to the Essex Sport Arena (South Courts bus stop).

COMMUNITY DAY: Basketball Doubleheader

April 4, 2026 | 2PM-8PM | Family Entertainment

Join us for a full day of sport, entertainment and community celebration as the Essex Rebels host a special Community Day at the Essex Sport Arena on Saturday, 4 April.

As the final home basketball doubleheader of the season, this event brings together fans, families and the local community for an unforgettable afternoon and evening of activities, followed by exciting on-court action.

The day tips off with Junior Sports Taster Sessions (1pm–3pm), where young participants can try basketball, cricket, climbing and multisport activities in a fun, inclusive environment led by experienced coaches. From 2pm, the pre-game Fanzone opens outside the arena, featuring local food vendors, family-friendly games, music, prizes, face painting, an Easter egg hunt and more — creating a festival atmosphere ahead of tip-off.

The action then moves indoors for a thrilling basketball doubleheader, with the Essex Rebels Women facing the London Lions at 4pm, followed by the Essex Rebels Men taking on the London Cavaliers at 6:30pm in their final home game of the season.

Community Day is our chance to thank fans for their incredible support throughout the year and celebrate the strong connection between the club and its community.
