Essex Rebels Host Movember Gameday to Raise Awareness for Men’s Health
The Essex Rebels are proud to host a special Movember Gameday on Saturday 28 November 2026, in partnership with Movember UK, Movember Students, and the University of Essex Movember Ambassadors.
The event will support the University’s wider Movember campaign, raising awareness of men’s mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer, while raising money for the University of Essex Movember Fundraiser.
The Fundraising Challenge
All Essex Rebels teams will be taking part in a month-long fundraising challenge, with a target of £500.
For every £50 raised, a player from one of the participating teams will be nominated to complete a challenge, with the results revealed during the Movember Gameday double-header.
Challenges include:
- Ice Bucket Challenge
- Pie in the Face
- Egg Roulette
- Playing their sport in a Queen B costume
- Running a route in the shape of a moustache
- Leg Wax Challenge
- Singing a song to their coach
And, of course, there may be a few surprises along the way.
The participating teams are:
- Essex Rebels Women’s Basketball (SLB)
- Essex Rebels Men’s Basketball (BCB)
- Essex Rebels NBL Division 3 Men
- Essex Rebels Women’s Volleyball
- Essex Rebels Men’s Volleyball
As donations increase, so will the challenges, giving supporters even more reason to get involved and help us exceed our target.
Basketball with a Purpose
The campaign will culminate with a basketball double-header at the University of Essex Sports Arena.
- 4:00pm – Essex Rebels Women vs B. Braun Sheffield Hatters (SLB)
- 6:30pm – Essex Rebels Men vs London Cavaliers (BCB)
Alongside the action on court, fans can enjoy a range of Movember-themed activities throughout the day, including a Moustache Competition, Moustache Cam, a University of Essex Dance Performance, fundraising updates, and more.
