Rebels D1 Men Fall to MK Breakers in Season Finale, Set for Playoff Showdown with Reading
Our Essex Rebels D1 Men’s team closed out their regular season with a hard-fought 82-75 defeat to Milton Keynes Breakers. The loss sees the Rebels finish the campaign with a 14-10 record in 6th place, setting up an away playoff matchup against Reading Rockets this coming weekend.
Emmanuel Kanwei led the Rebels with an impressive double-double of 24 points and 7 rebounds, while Kyron Martin contributed 14 points and 4 assists off the bench. Joe Hart added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists in a solid all-around performance, though Luke Busumbru was held to just 8 points despite grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists.
The visitors stayed competitive on the glass, outrebounding MK 41-39, and showed good ball movement throughout, but struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 24.2% of their three-point attempts compared to the Breakers’ 37.5%.
For Milton Keynes, Adrian Scarborough delivered a standout performance with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Spencer orchestrated the offense with 10 points and a game-high 16 assists. Nate Robinson added 18 points, including five three-pointers, and Chris Tawiah contributed 14 points and 16 rebounds.
The Rebels now turn their attention to the playoffs, where they’ll face Reading Rockets on the road. Despite the regular season coming to a close with a defeat, the team has shown tremendous growth and will look to make a deep postseason run.
