As a player, Tom was a standout at Farmington High School (NH) which led to him being nominated to the McDonald’s High School All-American Team. He helped the tigers advance to the State Semi Finals losing to the eventual State champions. He went on to accept a full athletic scholarship to attend Franklin Pierce University, a team he would go on to captain.
After graduating Franklin Pierce with a BSc in Business Management in 2006, his professional playing career began, with stops in Denmark, France and the USA – where he played for one of the oldest teams in the world, the Albany Patroons in the CBA. Tom has also represented England at every age group, from juniors to Senior Men.
Having retired from playing professionally in 2012, Tom started his coaching career with the sole purpose of giving back, serving players of all ages and ability develop their skill sets, helping them to discover valuable life skills achieved through the experiences within the game. Prior to his appointment as the Head of Basketball Performance, he enrolled at the business school at the University of Essex to complete his MBA, which is accredited by the association of MBA’s making the business school among the top 2% of business schools in the world. Since being appointed as Head of Basketball Performance Tom has led the women’s program to 2 BUCS Premier South titles in two years. He is also head coach of the WBBL Essex Rebels, and guided the team to their first ever professional win in their inaugural season. In 2018 Tom created the nationally recognised Essex Rebels Basketball Academy, based at the Essex Sport Arena and that currently compete in the ABL. In the 2019/20 seasons he was awarded the title of ABL Eastern Conference coach of the year. In 2017 he took over the running of the Colchester Basketball Club where he built a program that quickly went from 2 teams to 3 teams that allowed a pathway for junior players to progress from u14’s all the way to senior men. In 2019 the junior club re branded to align with the Rebels senior teams and Tom was appointed CEO of the Essex Rebels Junior Basketball Club where he oversees the running and development of the junior teams and the overall pathway.
